Gateways
Extended Study in Graphic Design
For my final module at UWE, my work explored the theme of ‘Gateways’ - the pivotal moments in life that we experience, and which act as transitions leading us from one stage of life to another. These are the moments in which we are presented with choices, opportunities, and
challenges that shape our direction and foster new experiences.
Through this body of work, I aim to examine how these gateways manifest in our lives as I encourage the audience to reflect on their own personal Gateways, to consider the paths they’ve taken and what has brought them to their current position - socially, economically, and culturally. Working primarily within analogue and editorial design, I will begin to question how Gateways can be navigated and the cyclical nature of opportunities and experiences as they continue to shape who we are. This is communicated through a series of outcomes that explore personal narratives, how the environment you live in produces opportunities and how we make sense of our lived experiences through reflective processes.
